Levels of Care - Young Adult Care
The DuPage Care Center has a long
history of serving the long-term care needs of chronically ill persons starting at age 18 and up to age 60. This age group makes up approximately 1/3 of the Center’s population. Many of our young residents are here due to disorders such as spinal
cord and brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, central nervous system disorders and cerebrovascular accidents with paralysis. These young residents receive the same full range of therapeutic interventions as the older residents.
In addition, we provide these residents with activities geared to their age group including computer classes, shopping and restaurant trips, pizza parties, movies, current event discussions, musical entertainment, etc. as well as the opportunity to socialize
with peers, go to school, and, if possible, obtain gainful employment.
Our young residents provide informal peer support to each other that is not available in most other skilled facilities.
