DuPage County Stormwater Management Accepting Applications for Water Quality Improvement Grants
DuPage County Stormwater Management is now accepting grant proposals for projects aimed at improving the water quality of DuPage County streams and rivers.
The Water Quality Improvement Grant awards partial funding to projects exhibiting a regional approach to water quality improvements, including streambank stabilizations, habitat improvements and green infrastructure to reduce or filter stormwater runoff.
“The Water Quality Improvement Program has had great success in making improvements to water quality throughout DuPage County,” said Stormwater Management Planning Committee Chairman Jim Zay. “Through this program, Stormwater Management is in the unique position to financially assist projects that benefit both the recipient and the greater DuPage community.”
Local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses, homeowners’ associations and private homeowners may apply for funding of up to 20 percent of construction, design, permitting and maintenance for portions of the project relating to water quality. Priority is given to projects providing the greatest water quality benefit to the greatest number of individuals.
“The County has a regional stormwater management focus, so we encourage projects involving multiple stakeholders as they generally impact a larger portion of the community,” said Chairman Zay.
