DuPage County Stormwater Management Awards Water Quality Grant Recipients
The DuPage County Stormwater Management Planning Committee awarded the 2017 recipients of the County’s Water Quality Improvement Program grant today. In total, the Committee selected five projects countywide, all of which aim to improve the quality of the County’s streams and rivers.
“This past grant year was the most competitive one yet. Not only did we receive the highest number of applications, but they were all impressive projects,” said Jim Zay, Chairman of the Stormwater Management Planning Committee. “This shows us that organizations countywide are thinking of ways to improve the quality of our streams and rivers, and many of these projects also help reduce localized flooding.”
In its 18th year, the Water Quality Improvement Program grant awards up to 25 percent funding for projects exhibiting a regional water quality benefit. DuPage County received fourteen applications this year for projects totaling more than $5 million. The Stormwater Committee awarded $278,062 to this year’s recipients and projects, including:
• North Central College’s permeable paver walkway (Naperville)
• Village of Westmont’s detention basin retrofit
• High Lake Homeowners Association’s streambank stabilization (Winfield)
• Village of Willowbrook’s permeable paver parking lot
• Village of Woodridge’s streambank stabilization
