ResponsibilitiesThe Commuter Rail Board is responsible for the management and oversight of Metra, which is the commuter rail agency serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties in the Chicago area.

Appointed ByCounty Chairman appoints one Director representing DuPage County with the advice and consent of the County Board.
CompensationDirectors receive $15,000 annually. The Chairman receives $25,000 annually. Directors may opt into shared cost Health Insurance.
QualificationsApplicants must be residents of DuPage County. Applicants may not be serving on or employed by any transportation agency while serving on the Commuter Rail Board. Applicants also may not be an employee of the State of Illinois, any Illinois agency or department, or any local unit of government in the State of Illinois.
Composition11 directors appointed by Collar County Chairmen, Cook County Chairman, and the Mayor of Chicago.
