Responsibilities

The Ethics Commission meets as a hearing body to consider complaints regarding unethical conduct. The Commission does promulgate rules and procedures, but that is only incidental to the hearing process. The Ethics Commission has jurisdiction over the Chairman, County Board Members, and employees of DuPage County.

Compensation

$175 per diem for Ethics Commissioners; $185 per hour for Ethics Commission Chairman

Qualifications

Applicants must reside in DuPage County.  Applicant may not be an employee of DuPage County or any other unit of government.  Commissioners may not become a candidate for any elective public office or hold any other elected or appointed public office, except for appointment to a governmental advisory board, study commission, or as an ethics official of another governmental entity. Prior to nomination, the Chairman of the County Board shall obtain a sworn affidavit of party affiliation.

5 commissioners, no more than 3 of whom may belong to the same political party.
