Stormwater Management Opens Public Comment Period for Water Quality Watershed Plans

The DuPage County Stormwater Management Planning Committee voted Tuesday to open the public comment period for the draft Kress Creek and Klein Creek Water Quality Watershed-Based Plans. The public comment period will be open from September 5 through October 5.

The plans outline projects and programs that may improve water quality throughout both the Kress Creek and Klein Creek watersheds in the western portion of DuPage County. Once both DuPage County and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) approve the draft plans, the County, municipalities and other private and public stakeholders may apply for IEPA grant funding to carry out initiatives identified in the plan.

DuPage County Stormwater Management will also hold a public meeting to discuss the draft watershed plans on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from noon to 1:00 p.m. in room 3-500B of the County’s Administration Building (421 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton).

The draft watershed plans are available online at http://www.dupageco.org/EDP/Stormwater_Management/6597/. In addition, hard copies are available for review at DuPage County’s Administration Building during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Comments on the draft watershed plans must be submitted in writing by the close of business on October 5, 2017. Comments may be submitted via email to Water.Quality@dupageco.org or by mail to Mary Beth Falsey, c/o Department of Stormwater Management, 421 North County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187.
