POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision; performs work of considerable difficulty monitoring a specialized area of psychological services; performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee of this class spends a considerable amount of time supervising the work of subordinate personnel. The employee assists in evaluation and development of psychological service programs, and serves as a liaison to the court system by providing program information, clarification, and training. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Administrator of Psychological Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Designs and develops programs for the treatment/education of clients
•    Supervises work of subordinate personnel
•    Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
•    Consults with staff about clinical cases, directs their community interventions, and organizes team planning and case staffings
•    Evaluates existing programs and develops new programs on the basis of observed needs
•    Meets with clinical staff to coordinate planning activities and obtain clearance for new programs
•    Solicits funding sources
•    Researches grant requirements and guidelines for proposals and writes grants
•    Prepares budgets and monitors expenditures
•    Meets with members of community groups to provide consultation on issues related to mental health and/or Family Center programs
•    Collects and analyzes data to prepare various reports
•    Provides direct services to clients
•    Serves as a liaison to help the court system in providing program information, clarification and training for on-going court referrals
•    Maintains regular attendance and punctuality

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Adjusts work assignments and schedules in the event of an emergency to participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as assigned.
•    Depending on assignment may maintain required emergency management training, licensure and/or certifications.
•    Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology, or other mental health discipline, and three years of professional clinical work and/or mediation including one year experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
