POSITION SUMMARY
Under direction; performs work of moderate difficulty in maintaining the operations of computer systems and networks; performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class handles complex technical support and performs specialized duties for systems and networks throughout the County; develops and maintains operational procedures for emergency events for systems and networks; troubleshoots problems with computer hardware, software and applications; performs analysis for computer operations workload management automation, identify appropriate technology solutions. Direction received by the Data Center Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists County departments in production needs and troubleshooting with complex systems, applications, networks and service levels for mainframes, client/server and open system platforms
• Provides assistance as requested for departmental systems, networks and websites
• Develops and maintains written operational procedures for workload management automation, disaster recovery and business continuity for systems and networks
• Identifies and resolves problems with computer hardware, software and applications
• Develops and maintains existing monitoring software
• Develops monitoring and recovery automation process for computer equipment and applications on local area network (LAN), storage area network (SAN) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Uses enterprise tools to create, update and generate management records
• Identifies and recommends changes for computer operations
• Serve as the main contact for support for departments and vendors for overall system’s needs, designs and operations
• Works with end users to address system and network needs and problems
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Adjusts work assignments and schedules in the event of an emergency to participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as assigned.
• Depending on assignment may maintain required emergency management training, licensure and/or certifications.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
• Developing, administering and monitoring various systems and networks and workload management automation
• Technical support for enterprise systems, applications, networks, mainframes and open system platform
• Disaster recovery of systems
• User requirements
• Current office practices, procedures and equipment
• County policies and procedures
• Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes

Skill in:
• Analyzing and troubleshooting system and network issues
• Creating and documenting operational procedures
• Using computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, etc.
• Applying an acquired knowledge of procedures, rules, regulations and services applicable to the assigned office

Ability to:
• Manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with department and division staff, other departments and others, such as vendors
• Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
• Convey excellent oral and written communication
• Work effectively under stress
• Maintain confidentiality

None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with two years of information technology or Computer Operations Analyst experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
