DuPage County provides employees and their family's income protection in the event of disability, retirement or death. An employee is eligible to receive retirement benefits at age 55 with 8 years of service.
Deferred Compensation
DuPage County encourages its employees to save for retirement by investing in a tax-deferred account. Deferred compensation permits employees to postpone a portion of their pre-tax salary to receive at retirement. The County has several plans to meet individual needs.
Flexible Benefits
Flexible benefits allow an employee to participate in the benefit programs they feel they need. In some cases they may waive coverage and receive a credit for the benefits they do not need. This credit may be used to purchase additional benefits or be taken as cash.
Spending Accounts
Under the Flexible Benefit program, spending accounts are designed to reimburse expenses not covered by other benefit plans. Waiving other benefits can fund these accounts. Health Spending Accounts provide tax-free reimbursement for health care expenses. Dependent Care Spending Accounts provide tax-free reimbursement for child or qualified adult dependent care expenses.
Life Insurance
