    Professional Associations
    Association of Certified Fraud Examiners  A forum for professionals who investigate fraud in all of its many and varied forms. 
    Information Systems Audit and Control Association  An Association and Foundation comprised of Information Systems professionals dedicated to the Information Systems Audit, Control, and Security Professions through a commitment to Education, Certification, Research, and Standards. 
    Institute of Internal Auditors  Established in 1941, The IIA serves more than 60,000 members in internal auditing, governance and internal control, IT audit, education, and security from more than 100 countries. 
    Association of Local Government Auditors A.L.G.A. provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among local government audit professionals. Features of the site include abstracts of audit reports, submitted by member audit organizations, roundtable discussions, and special reports from A.L.G.A.
    Association of Government Accountants  AGA serves the professional interests of financial managers from local, state and federal government, as well as public accounting firms, responsible for effectively using billions of dollars and other monetary resources everyday. 
    Government Finance Officers Association  GFOA is the professional association of state/provincial and local finance officers in the United States and Canada. 
    American Institute of Certified Public Accountants  The national association for certified public accountants. 
    Illinois CPA Society  The state professional association representing more than 25,000 certified public accountants in Illinois. 

    Government Auditing Resources 
    General Accounting Office  The General Accounting Office is the investigative arm of Congress. Charged with examining matters relating to the receipt and disbursement of public funds, GAO performs audits and evaluations of Government programs and activities. You can get the GAO Daybook, a daily listing of newly released reports, at this site, or search for GAO reports through the Government Printing Office Access Service. 
    Government Auditing Standards  A product of the United States General Accounting Office, this document contains standards for audits of government organizations, programs, activities, and functions, and of government assistance received by contractors, nonprofit organizations, and other non-governmental organizations. These standards, often referred to as generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS), pertain to auditors' professional qualifications, the quality of audit effort, and the characteristics of professional and meaningful audit reports. 
    IGnet  Information of interest to, and dedicated to improving the effectiveness of, the Inspector General community. 
    National Academy of Public Administration  The National Academy of Public Administration is an independent, nonpartisan organization chartered by Congress to assist federal, state, and local governments in improving their effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability.
