Illinois Specific Analysis of Census Poverty Data

With the Census Bureau's recent release of 2004 poverty data, the Mid-America Institute on Poverty of Heartland Alliance has produced fact sheets highlighting Illinois-specific data, comparisons of the data over the past few years, as well as select geographic breakdowns. The data are clear - the economic recovery is not reaching the Illinoisans who need it most. Poverty is stubbornly persisting at a high level, child poverty is on the rise, health insurance is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, and affordable housing continues to be out of reach for more and more households.

Fact sheets can be downloaded from: http://www.heartlandalliance.org/creatingchange/factsheets.html.

Information on the following geographies is available:

Illinois Chicago Cook County
DuPage County Kane County Lake County
McHenry County Madison County St. Clair County
Winnebago County
