With the Census Bureau's recent release of 2004 poverty data, the
Mid-America Institute on Poverty of Heartland Alliance has produced
fact
sheets highlighting Illinois-specific data, comparisons of the data
over the
past few years, as well as select geographic breakdowns. The data
are clear
- the economic recovery is not reaching the Illinoisans who need
it most.
Poverty is stubbornly persisting at a high level, child poverty
is on the
rise, health insurance is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain,
and
affordable housing continues to be out of reach for more and more
households.
