DuPage County Workforce Development Division

The DuPage County Workforce Development Division (WDD) is located at the workNet DuPage Career Center of DuPage County. In public partnership with other federal, state, and local employment and training organizations, the WDD works cooperatively to provide essential workforce development services in DuPage County. WorkNet DuPage Career Center allows employers and job seekers to access a broad array of employment, training, education, and related services with one telephone call or visit. The WDD is funded by the Workforce Investment Act.

Employment Services Unit

  • Reception: greeting visitors and answering the telephone
  • Career Resource Room Staff: assist customers with:
    • Internet access for job search activities: Illinois workNet 
    • Computerized job listings
    • Utilizing the extensive career resource library
    • Accessing comprehensive Labor Market information
    • Using computers for resume and cover letter development
  • Daily workshops are conducted in:
    • Employability Skills
    • Job Search
    • Computer Fundamentals

Career Services Unit

  • Provides more intensive services to customers, including
    • Vocational Assessment
    • Interest and Aptitude Testing
    • Career Counseling
    • Pre-Layoff Workshops

If customers are eligible, counselors issue vouchers for vocational/educational training designed to provide clients with the skills needed to compete for jobs in today’s labor market. The training providers are chosen by the customers from a statewide approved list.

  • Case Management
  • Referral to needed community services
  • Follow-up through self-sufficient employment

Business Services Unit

  • Provides services to DuPage County employers, including
    • Incumbent Worker Training, funding assistance for training provided by an employer for existing employees
    • Screening & referral of qualified job applicants
    • Customized training of new hires
    • Providing space for businesses to recruit and interview

Technical Services Unit

  • Provides technical support to WDD, including
    • Computer and network installation and maintenance
    • Administration of IWDS system
    • Procurement of contracts
    • Oversight and monitoring
    • Fiscal management
    • Approval of training providers
    • Youth services – Working with schools throughout DuPage County
    • Policies and procedures administration
