SCHILLERSTROM APPOINTS SHEAHAN AND OLSON AS CHAIRMAN OF LEGISLATIVE & STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEES
Newly created committees to play vital role in County Planning
WHEATON — DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom announced on Tuesday that Board Members Brien Sheahan (District 2) and Debra Olson (District 4) will chair the two newly created Legislative and Strategic Planning committees.
Schillerstrom, who announced all new committee assignments during the County Board meeting, noted that the Legislative Committee (to be Chaired by Sheahan), and the Strategic Planning Committee (to be chaired by Olson) will both serve as valuable tools as the county continues both its short-term and long-term planning.
“Brien’s experience in State Government will be an invaluable asset to the Legislative Committee,” said Schillerstrom. “I look forward to working with him and the other Committee members as we continue exploring all options available in Springfield.”
In conjunction with Tuesday’s Committee assignments, Board members were also shown a final presentation of the County’s new strategic plan, a document that will be the primary focus of the new Strategic Planning Committee.
“The strategic plan will serve as a road map as we continue to move forward in addressing the critical issues facing our county,” said Schillerstrom. “That is why it was so important to create a committee whose primary objective is to examine and implement this plan. To that end, I am confident in Deb Olson’s leadership as she begins leading this important committee.”
Other committee chairman appointments announced on Tuesday include: Patrick O’Shea (Finance); Pam Rion (Transportation); Michael McMahon (Judicial and Public Safety); Kyle Gilgis (Development); Yolanda Campuzano (Health & Human Services); Grant Eckhoff (Intergovernmental); Thomas Bennington (Public Works); Jim Zay (Stormwater); JR McBride (Public Transit); Jeff Redick (Environmental); Michael Connelly (Economic Development); and Paul Fichtner (Technology).
Also on Tuesday, Schillerstrom appointed Robert Schroeder (District 5) as Vice Chairman. Schillerstrom noted that he chose Schroeder because of his commitment to DuPage County and his respect among the County Board Members.
“Robert Schroeder has been a leader on the County Board for almost two decades and I look forward to him serving as Vice Chairman,” said Schillerstrom.
