DPCC'S "GOT TALENT"

Join the DuPage Convalescent Center (DPCC) at their 2nd Annual "DPCC's Got Talent" on Friday, February 26th at 2:00 pm.  DPCC will celebrate the talents of all those that choose to share them.  This fun-filled afternoon is sponsored by the DuPage Convalescent Center Recreation program.  The festivities will include talent showcased by the residents, staff, volunteers, and family members.

There will be three community members judging this event and they are:

o Linda Dolan has been the Leisure Center Manager for the Wheaton Park District since 1995.  In 2001, she won the Illinois Park and Recreation Magazine Best Marketing Article for her piece on "Bringing in the New Senior", and in 2003 she won the "Al Hattendorf Professional of the Year" Award.  She's an active IPRA member who was instrumental in developing the successful IPRA Travel Program in 2000.  An avid trend watcher, she is especially committed to offering quality programming for adults of all ages. Linda had such a great time at last year's event, she agreed to come back and do it again!

o Martha McMillen, is a Director, Singer and Writer who received a Music Education degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She earned her master's degrees in educational administration and music from Northern Illinois University. Martha has performed with Wheaton Drama since 1971, and directed "My Fair Lady," "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Charlie Brown" and the road shows.  She founded the Palatine Chorale, taught drama for the Wheaton Park District's Perpetual Players, wrote scripts and sang with the Silvertones Choral group.  She sings in the Glen Ellyn Wheaton Chorale and is writing for the ArtsForum Magazine, and the ArtsAge Publishing Company.

o John Apple, founder and conductor of the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra. The Pops concerts capture the imagination of children and adults alike with a fast-paced, informal approach to great music using film clips, guest appearances and the casual ambience of being able to enjoy great music while snacking on popcorn. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Apple has distinguished himself in making an impact throughout the community with the Chicagoland Festival Chorus, a vibrant ensemble that has performed for more than 9,500 people during 33 concerts, the Chicagoland Oz Festival, Chicagoland Christmas Brass, July 4th Star-Spangled Spectacular, and the Memorial Weekend Patriotic Extravaganza honoring the men and women of our Nation's Armed Forces. He is currently the Performing Arts Director at Springbrook Community Church in Naperville, where he applies his creative energy to weekly services and events.

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Awards given to the top talents. The program will be held on the first floor of the Convalescent Center at 400 North County Farm Road, in the Resident Dining Room.
