Residents affected by recent flooding are encouraged to call the County’s flood information line, launched on Thursday, which will provide callers with direction on issues such as clean-up, health safety and permitting needs. The number to call is 630-407-6500.

With the State of Illinois declaring DuPage County, and 11 other counties, a state disaster area resulting from last weekend's heavy rain and isolated flooding, the County's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM) is continuing to work with residents, as well as county villages and municipalities, regarding how to move forward with clean-up and debris removal.

COOLING CENTERS PROVIDE RELIEF FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY
As higher temperatures and humidity settle over the region, DuPage County wants to remind residents that a list of cooling centers throughout the area is available on the County's website. Cooling centers provide those who may not have air conditioning or someone to care for them with a place to get some relief in the summer months. During times of excessive heat and humidity, it is important to recognize that the elderly are not the only ones susceptible to the excessive heat. Those who are going to be outdoors this week should also take the necessary steps to ensure they are well-hydrated and dressed appropriately.
IT'S "CHRISTMAS IN JULY" AT DU PAGE COUNTY ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL
This week, the Friends of DuPage County Animal Care and Control Foundation will begin a "Christmas in July" offer on the adoption of all adult cats. For those interested in providing a home to one of the many vaccinated, spayed/neutered adult cats at the DCACC, adoption fees will be 100 percent subsidized, making the adoption completely free.
