Request for Excusal of Service

There are no occupational or student exemptions from service.

All citizens, age 18 and above, who reside in DuPage County and understand the English language are eligible for jury service. Requests to delay your service can be submitted on the Postponement Request page.

All requests for excusal from jury service must be submitted in writing on the Page 2 form included with your summons.

Requests for excusal from jury service due to a change of residence outside of DuPage County must include a photo copy of a current driver's license or state identification card which shows the corrected address. Illinois State Statute (625 ILCS 5/6-116) requires that the Illinois Secretary of State be notified within 10 days of an address and/or name change. You may update your Secretary of State file by contacting any Secretary of State facility or on their web-site at http://www.sos.state.il.us/

Requests indicating a medical reason must be accompanied with a physician's note.

Request indicating non-citizen status must include verification of nationality (alien registration number, I-94 number or visa number).

A written response will be mailed upon review of a request for excusal from service.
