The DuPage County Historical Society, founded in 1929, recognized an opportunity to establish a centrally located history museum about DuPage County and embarked on a fund drive to purchase the Adams Memorial Library building and transform it into a museum. People eagerly responded, with donations coming from all over DuPage County, and beyond. Schools held fundraisers and retired teachers sent supportive notes along with their donations. Donated amounts ranged from one dollar, to hundreds and thousands, from individuals, businesses large and small, clubs and associations, school groups, foundations, and community institutions. Major support came through an agreement with the County of DuPage. The County Board approved a resolution on October 11, 1965, accepting the Museum from the Society and taking responsibility for its operation as a department of DuPage County Government. Learn More
