For Immediate Release PROCUREMENT DEPARTMENT STAFF AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS WHEATON— Continuing their tradition of excellence in financial services and taxpayer accountability, six employees of the Procurement Services Division of the DuPage County Finance Department were recently awarded scholarships that will go toward training forums and conferences for employees. “The residents of DuPage County should be proud of the work our Finance Department is doing in maintaining an open and fiscally responsible procurement process,” said Robert J. Schillerstrom, DuPage County Board Chairman. The scholarships, presented by the Illinois Association of Public Procurement Officials, Inc. (IAPPO) ― a state chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. (NIGP) ― are awarded for procurement related accomplishments during the previous calendar year and help procurement employees maintain their Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) status. The six procurement employees who received scholarship are: Tyrone Tipitino (Sugar Grove), Joan Morange (Glen Ellyn), Darcie Garza (Carol Stream), Maria Calamia, (Winfield), Debby Thompson (West Chicago), Glenda Vasak (Bartlett) and Marc Becker (Palatine). The scholarships, which range from $240 to $650 each, may be used for any of the following functions:
“These training seminars and conferences provide our staff with the most up to date tools and training available that will help them continue their excellent stewardship of the taxpayer’s money,” said Patrick O’Shea, Chairman of the County’s Finance Committee.
