COUNTY RECEIVES “DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD”

“Our Finance Department is a most deserving recipient of this outstanding award,” notes Schillerstrom

WHEATON— DuPage County has received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s (GFOA) “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award” for its budget. 

According to GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by DuPage County.  It reflects the commitment of the Finance Department, and the County, in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. 

“Our Finance Department team is a most deserving recipient of this outstanding award,” said DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom.  “I commend all of the hard working employees of the Department and DuPage County who are committed to providing the best services possible to our residents.”

In order to receive the budget award, DuPage County had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.  The guidelines used to assess how well an organization does in presenting their budget include:  A policy document; a financial plan; an operations guide; and a communication device.

This marks the third consecutive year DuPage County has won this award.

When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget presentation is also presented to the individual, or department, designated as bring primarily responsible for its having achieved the award.  This award has been presented to Frederic Backfield, the County’s Chief Financial Officer, on behalf of the Finance Department. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 16,800 government finance professionals throughout North America.  The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
