DuPage County and Illinois EPA Hosting Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom and Environmental Committee Chairman Jeff Redick (District 2) are inviting residents to property dispose of household hazardous waste at the County’s annual hazardous waste collection event scheduled for Saturday, June 2^nd.

This one-day event, co-sponsored by DuPage County and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, will be held between 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the DuPage County Administration Building located at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton. 

Acceptable items to bring for recycling include:  cleaning solvents, mercury, acids, oil based paints, thermostats, insecticides, wood stain & varnish, asbestos, pool chemicals, expired/leftover medicines, fertilizers/pesticides, fluorescent light ballast, poisons, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, mercury thermometers, automotive fluids and propane tanks.  Unwanted cellular phones will also be collected for recycling.
