DuPage Convalescent Center Hosts 40th Annual Fall Festival

5K Run/Family Walk to Begin Day’s Festivities

WHEATON-- The DuPage Convalescent Center will host its 6th Annual 5K Run/Family Walk in conjunction with the 40th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, September 15th.  Organizers are anticipating over 400 participants to run, walk and race by wheelchair across the scenic course that weaves through residential Winfield.

“This occasion is the perfect opportunity for DuPage residents to come out, bring the whole family and have a good time while supporting a worthy cause,” said Robert J. Schillerstrom, Chairman of the DuPage County Board.

The 5K Run/Walk gets underway at 8:25 a.m. with the Fall Festival following at 9 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m.  Both events will take place on the grounds of the Convalescent Center at 400 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

Proceeds from the race and other entertainment will benefit the Resident Recreation Fund that provides programming and activity options to residents of the Center and the DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation whose mission is to provide care and quality-of-life programs to its residents.

Aside from participating or sponsoring the run/walk, proceeds also come from Fall Festival features such as a raffle, bake sale, bingo and craft fair.  There will also be kid’s games, a scarecrow and mum patch, activities with Animal Care and Control Center and the Office of Emergency Management.

The cost of registering for the 5K Walk/Run is $20 before September 10th and $25 after.  To register, go to www.signmeup.com/56109, call the Fall Festival/5K Hotline at 630-784-4495, or e-mail fallfestival5K@dupageco.org.  Crafters interested in renting space should also call or email for details.
