2007 DuPage County Senior Fair To Be Held on Friday, October 19th

DuPage senior citizens and caregivers looking for information on services available in the County are encouraged to attend the 2007 DuPage County Human Services “Seniors’ & Caregivers’ Fair” on Friday, October 19th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the DuPage County Fairgrounds (2015 W. Manchester Road, Wheaton).

“This one-day event provides seniors with a great opportunity to learn about what services are available to them throughout DuPage County,” said Yolanda Campuzano, Chairman of the County’s Health and Human Services Committee.

Many free heath services will be available, including blood pressure, glucose (2 hour fast required, water and medication allowed), vision, hearing, podiatry and bone density screenings as well as numerous brochures, free giveaways, raffle prizes and refreshments.  For a nominal charge, DuPage County residents can obtain flu shots.  Shots are subject to availability, and appointments are necessary.

There will also be a representative from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) that will be available to accept applications and provide information on help with heating bills.  Also, a representative from the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will be offering a free analysis to determine whether individuals are paying too much for phone service, as well as providing tips on how to save money.  Individuals who are interested in this analysis should bring a copy of their current phone bills.

The fair is sponsored by the DuPage County Senior Citizen Services.  For more Information or to make an appointment for a flu shot, call DuPage County Senior Citizen Services at (630) 407-6500 or toll free at 1-800-942-9412.
