POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE PRESENTS AWARD TO MCMAHON AT FIRST ANNUAL LUNCHEON

WHEATON, IL – Recognizing his commitment to reducing juvenile delinquency and promoting positive interaction between law enforcement and communities, the Police Athletic League of Illinois (PAL) today awarded DuPage County Board Member Michael McMahon with their 2008 Bishop Sheil Award.

The Police Athletic League of Illinois is a youth- oriented program focused on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police, adults and youth.

“It is an honor and privilege to receive this award,” said McMahon.  “By working with our local law enforcement organizations, we can ensure today’s youth are educated about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and gangs.  I commend the work the PAL of Illinois does and I look forward to working with them in the future.”

The Police Athletic League is based on the belief that children, if reached early enough, can develop a strong, positive attitude towards police officers in their journey through life towards the goal of adulthood and citizenship.
