CONNELLY RECEIVES 2008 BISHOP SHEIL AWARD Connelly was honored for his commitment to law enforcement, giving back to children as a coach for numerous youth athletic teams and for educating local youths about the dangers of gangs, drugs, alcohol and other detriments that could have a negative impact on a person’s life. “An investment in today’s youth is an investment in the future,” said Connelly. “I am honored to receive this award and proud to be a party of the Police Athletic League and the work that they do with our youth.” The Police Action League is a non-profit youth organization with a mission to reduce juvenile delinquency and promote positive interaction between law enforcement and communities. In essence it is a recreation oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police officers and kids in the community.
