CONNELLY RECEIVES 2008 BISHOP SHEIL AWARD

WHEATON, IL – DuPage County Board Member Michael Connelly (District 5) received the Police Athletic League of Illinois’ 2008 Bishop Sheil Award, which was presented to him on Wednesday at the League’s first annual awards luncheon in Oak Brook

Connelly was honored for his commitment to law enforcement, giving back to children as a coach for numerous youth athletic teams and for educating local youths about the dangers of gangs, drugs, alcohol and other detriments that could have a negative impact on a person’s life.

“An investment in today’s youth is an investment in the future,” said Connelly.  “I am honored to receive this award and proud to be a party of the Police Athletic League and the work that they do with our youth.”

The Police Action League is a non-profit youth organization with a mission to reduce juvenile delinquency and promote positive interaction between law enforcement and communities.  In essence it is a recreation oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police officers and kids in the community.
