COUNTY HONORS LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP IN CONSERVATION EFFORTS

WHEATON ― The DuPage County Board passed a Resolution of Commendation on Tuesday recognizing the Morton Arboretum, Cantigny Park and Museum, The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, Subaru Great Lakes Region, SIMS Recycling Solutions, and Whole Foods for their leadership in starting and maintaining conservation programs.

DuPage County has been a sponsor of environmental education for almost two decades, and as part of this program, the seven area businesses honored on Tuesday will be earning their Earth Flag.

“The flag is a symbol of their accomplishments in saving energy, recycling, education and leadership in environmental programs,” said Jeff Redick, Chairman of the County’s Environmental Committee.  “These entities have gone well above starting a recycling program.  Some have gone as far as significantly cutting their energy consumption and reducing waste to championing environmental topics at community events.”

Each of these entities is an extraordinary example for everyone within the County and beyond. Their efforts have resulted in immeasurable benefits to their companies, their employees and the public.
