VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FOR TEENS

 

WHEATON, IL ― Teenagers can learn new skills while helping others by joining the DuPage Convalescent Center’s “VolunTeen” Program. 

Located in Wheaton, the Center provides short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care for over 350 residents between the ages of 21 and 100.  Teens may volunteer to help with a variety of activities such as recreation events and outings, in-house transport, playing games, gardening, special events, and animal assisted visits.

Volunteering benefits teens in many ways including:

  • Meeting new friends
  • Learning new skills
  • Getting involved with the community
  • Completing required service learning or community service hours
  • Experiencing the healthcare field
  • Becoming eligible for a college scholarship
  • Having fun
