COUNTY BOARD CONTINUES TO SUPPORT TOURISM IN DUPAGE

WHEATON ― In an effort to enhance and increase tourism in DuPage, as well as inform travelers of the sites and opportunities available in the county, the DuPage County Board approved a $25,000 investment to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau this past week.

The funding will help support the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau (DuPage CVB), which will help increase tourism, as well as benefit the local economy.

“When planning a vacation this summer, families should look at what DuPage has to offer,” said Robert J. Schillerstrom, DuPage County Board Chairman.  “Whether you enjoy shopping, golfing, dining out, theatres, museums, art galleries, open spaces or zoos, there is something for everyone in our County.”

According to the DuPage CVB, the County has nearly 16,000 rooms in over 100 hotels, as well as world class shopping and over 50 golf courses.

The DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau was formally certified by the State of Illinois in 1989 as the official agency to promote tourism and market DuPage County as a destination for visitors, conventions and economic development. There are 36 state-certified Bureaus in Illinois.  Within its service area, the DuPage CVB represents 34 communities and individual businesses that make up its membership. The organization's budget is supported by hotel taxes from supporting DuPage municipalities, membership dues, Illinois Bureau of Tourism grant funds, and financial assistance from the DuPage County Board.  (Source:  DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau)
