ZAY APPOINTED TO WATER COMMISSION

WHEATON― DuPage County Board Member Jim Zay was appointed to the DuPage Water Commission on Tuesday.  As Chairman of the County’s Stormwater Committee for the past seven years, Zay has established a record of working cooperatively with the County’s municipalities and he looks forward to continuing that work on the Water Commission.

“I look forward to working with our municipalities to ensure the continued delivery of a safe and reliable water source to the residents of DuPage,” said Zay (District 6).  “Now that the County is a full member of the Water Commission, we need to move forward to convert our County well systems to Lake Michigan water and to develop plans, in coordination with municipalities, to service those areas of the county that today do not have access to Lake Michigan water.”

The mission of the DuPage Water Commission is to provide reliable, quality, responsive, and cost-efficient Lake Michigan water service for existing and future customers.

The DuPage Water Commission is governed by a Board of Commissioners consisting of 12 members and a Chairman. The DuPage County Board Chairman with the approval of the DuPage County Board appoints the Chairman and six of the Commissioners. The other six Commissioners are elected by the mayors/presidents of the municipalities within a County Board District.

The Sixth District represents:  Aurora, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Naperville, Roselle, St. Charles, Warrenville, Wayne, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield.
