VOLUNTEEN SCHOLARSHIP WINNER ANNOUNCED
DUPAGE CONVALESCENT CENTER FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES WINNER OF THE “REGIS MCGINNIS VOLUNTEEN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD”
WHEATON — This year’s recipient of the DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation Regis McGinnis Scholarship is Lauren Langhammer of suburban Carol Stream.
Lauren has been a VolunTeen at the DuPage Convalescent Center for a year-and-a-half as a Transporter for Catholic Mass and provides assistance in the Alzheimer’s Unit by playing games and reminiscing with the residents. A graduate of Glenbard North High School, Lauren was active in Student Council and as a peer tutor. She is an Illinois State Scholar, member of the National Honor Society and she graduated fourth in her class. Lauren will be attending the University of Illinois to pursue a career in Accounting.
“The DuPage Convalescent Center would like to congratulate Lauren and wish her well in her future endeavors,” said DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom. “A special thank you goes out to all of our VolunTeens for making a difference in the lives of our residents.”
Teenagers looking for a way to keep busy and spread joy can become a VolunTeen! Participants learn new skills and explore the healthcare field while helping others by joining the “VolunTeen” program at the DuPage Convalescent Center. Located in Wheaton, the Center provides skilled nursing and rehabilitative care to 350+ residents ranging in age from 21 to over 100. Teens can assist with in-house transport, Recreational programs and community outings, gardening, special events and much, much more.
