PUBLIC HEARING WILL DISCUSS IMPACT ADULT BUSINESSES HAVE ON SURROUNDING DU PAGE COMMUNITIES

WHEATON —      The DuPage County Board Adult Business Subcommittee will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, September 30th to discuss the impact adult businesses, and their secondary effects, have on surrounding communities.

Earlier this year, DuPage County Board Member Jim Zay (District 6) announced that he would begin looking at the need to introduce an ordinance that would prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages at adult business facilities within DuPage County.  Zay’s concern stems from two fatal vehicle accidents occurred after patrons visiting an adult establishment left the facility under the influence of alcohol.

“We simply can no longer allow this practice to continue,” said Zay, Chairman of the Adult Business Subcommittee.  “We can no longer allow our residents to be in harms way from this lethal mix.  This public hearing will be a first step toward rectifying this practice, and I would encourage the public to attend.”
