FEMA’S DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER MODIFYING SCHEDULE

DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom announced on Monday that FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is adjusting their daily schedule based on an examination of the Center’s first week of operation.  As a result, the DRC in DuPage County, as well as the other Centers in the region, will now be open only Monday-Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed Sundays.

Schillerstrom notes that since the DRC opened last Tuesday, over 397 DuPage residents have registered with FEMA and over 90 have visited the center, with 53 of those being from DuPage County.

The DRC is located in the cafeteria (second floor) of the DuPage County Jack T. Knuepfer Administration Building, located at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.  Those planning to attend should park on the top floor of the north parking deck and enter via the walkway.

Prior to visiting the DRC, residents and businesses should register with FEMA.  Those in the counties designated for assistance (Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, LaSalle, and Will) can begin the disaster application process by registering online at www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
