HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT TO BE HELD IN CAROL STREAM ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25TH

DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom, Environmental Committee Chairman Jeff Redick (District 2) and Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino, Sr. are inviting residents to properly dispose of mercury thermometers, old/expired medicines, expired lawn chemicals and other household hazardous waste at collection event scheduled for Saturday, October 25th

This event, co-sponsored by DuPage County, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Village of Carol Stream, will be held in Carol Stream at the Water Reclamation Center, which is located at 245 N. Kuhn Road (North of North Avenue, South of Lies Road).  The event will be open between 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Acceptable items to bring for disposal include:  cleaning solvents, mercury, acids, oil based paints, thermostats, insecticides, wood stain & varnish, asbestos, pool chemicals, expired/leftover medicines, fertilizers/pesticides, fluorescent light ballast, poisons, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, mercury thermometers, automotive fluids and propane tanks.  Unwanted cellular phones will also be collected for recycling.
