Campuzano Ensures Funding for Community Programs
DU PAGE COUNTY ― The DuPage County Board has authorized the funding of $500,000, which is part of the Fiscal Year 2008 budget, to support a variety of agencies that provide human service programs to the residents of DuPage County Board Member Yolanda Campuzano (District 1), who has served as Chairwoman of the Health and Human Services Committee since 2006, is proud to have been a part of this grant. “I am extremely glad that the Board has seen fit to fund these programs so generously,” said Campuzano. “They have had a major impact in the lives of so many residents in Funds have been recommended for forty-six of the applications, including a variety of programs. Programs which address homelessness are to receive $81,000; mental health, $118,000; the disabled, $47,000 economic self-sufficiency, $116,000; senior citizens, $41,000; children, $57,000; and families in need, $37,000. Over the last several months, dozens of agencies submitted application requests, while the Health and Human Services Committee reviewed each application in addition to any staff recommendations. The Department of Community Services will oversee the funding distribution, program monitoring and program evaluation.
