HOBSON VALLEY TO RECEIVE LAKE MICHIGAN WATER

WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Board has approved the formation of a special service area for the construction of a water main project throughout the area commonly known as Hobson Valley

The utilization of the County’s AAA bond rating has allowed DuPage to secure the funds needed for this project at an overall interest rate of 4.525% for a 20-year term.   In addition, based upon savings in overall project costs, the county was able to reduce the amount of the overall issuance from $1,920,000 to $1,885,000.

“These savings represent a substantial cost reduction to the residents, as compared to the original cost projections presented,” notes DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom.

The construction contract has been awarded to Gerardi Sewer & Water Company, with the notice to proceed expected to be issued by the middle of February.  It is expected that the contractor will begin to mobilize equipment and deliver water main related materials to the jobsite at some point during February.  This project is estimated to take approximately five (5) months to complete and another month for the associated restoration (weather dependent).  If residents decide to connect to the water main, they will be allowed to do so following the complete installation and testing of the water main.

To better serve residents during this construction project, DuPage County will have a field representative and a resident engineer assigned to the subdivision in order to oversee the construction, as well as being a point of contact to the residents.

Residents should be aware that during this construction project, large excavation equipment and trucks will be operating throughout your subdivision.   DuPage County will be working with the contractor to minimize some of the disruption and inconvenience that a project like this creates.
