County Board Members Zediker and Zay Appointed to Sperling Committee; O'Shea Appointed Committee Chairman

Wheaton, IL —     DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom has appointed Board Members Jim Zay (District 6) and John Zediker (District 5) to the DuPage County Sperling Committee, and Patrick O’Shea (District 2), who currently serves on the Committee, has been named Chairman.

The goal of the Sperling Committee is to identifying and honor residents of DuPage County who have displayed extraordinary acts of heroism.  The Committee was created in 2007 and is named after Bruce and Mark Sperling, two brothers from Yorkville who died attempting to rescue a kayaker in the Fox River.

“While every day heroes never ask for recognition, or for their names to appear in the news, their acts of courage are certainly worthy of praise and recognition,” said O’Shea.

Those newly appointed to the Sperling Committee will join current members Don Puchalski (District 1), Patrick O Shea (District 2), Kyle Gilgis (District 3), Grant Eckhoff (District 4), Pam Rion, Joel Herter, Ken Lahner and Christopher Burke.

Schillerstrom has also appointed John Zediker to the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Zediker, who took the place of Rep. Michael Connelly last month, is the newest member of the County Board and has been a business leader in DuPage County for over a decade.
