DuPage County to Sponsor Earth Month Poster Contest

DU PAGE COUNTY — DuPage County is pleased to announce its partnership with Whole Foods Market Naperville in challenging students in kindergarten through sixth grade in a contest to design a poster which demonstrates the County’s commitment to environmental awareness.  Students interested in participating are encouraged to focus on the following topics:

  • Future Green Cars or Transportation
  • Families Gone Green:  Ways your family can reduce, reuse and recycle
  • Ways to reduce your Carbon Footprint
  • The Interior Design of a Green Building of Today or the Future

“Students will be judged on creativity and the ability to inspire others to go green,” said Jeff Redick, Chairman of the DuPage County Environmental Committee.   “Also, a portion of the posters submitted will be displayed at Whole Foods Market in Naperville during Earth Month.”

Prizes for this contest include a goodie-bag, a Whole Foods gift certificate and a recycled rubber basketball.   One winner will be selected from each grade, and all winners will be invited to attend a DuPage County Board meeting to be publicly recognized and receive an assortment of treats, compliments of Whole Foods Market in Naperville.  The winning submissions will be displayed at the County’s Jack T. Knuepfer Administration Building.

Posters must be no larger than 22” x 28” and should be sent to the DuPage County Office of Green Initiatives, 421 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187.  Each poster must include the student’s name, school, grade and contact information on the back.  Limit one per student.  Deadline for submission is May 8, 2009.
