RESIDENTS SHOULD VISIT PROTECT DUPAGE WEBSITE FOR INFORMATION ON SWINE FLU

DuPage County, in conjunction with the DuPage County Health Department, is working with the Illinois Department of Public Health, the DuPage County Regional Office of Education, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and regional health departments in monitoring the recent swine flu outbreak.

In order to keep DuPage County residents informed of the developing situation, informational fact sheets and prevention guides have been posted on www.protectdupage.org.  These informational materials, which can be easily downloaded, are available in both English and Spanish.

DuPage County will continue to monitor this situation and will keep posting the most up-to-date information as soon as it is available,” said DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom.

In order to avoid catching the flu, the CDC says individuals should: be sure to wash their hands; try to stay in good general health; get plenty of sleep; be physically active; manage stress; drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Individuals should not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
