DU PAGE COUNTY RECEIVING FEDERAL STIMULUS MONIES TO SUPPORT LOCAL HIGHWAY PROJECTS

DU PAGE COUNTY DuPage County is scheduled to receive an estimated $3.6 million in federal stimulus monies that will support three local road projects. The projects scheduled to receive funding are on Naperville Road, Lemont Road and Gary Avenue

“These projects, funded at 100 percent for construction, are significant because each of these roadways carry substantial average daily traffic, traverse through multiple jurisdictions, and provide regional benefit to the motoring public,” said DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom.

Don Puchalski, who chairs the County’s Transportation Committee, notes that the projects to be funded include:

  • Naperville Road (IL 38 to IL 56) -- $947,000
  • Lemont Road (83rd Street/Plainfield Road to 97th Street) -- $1,515,000
  • Gary Avenue (Jewell to St. Charles) Naperville Road (Lucent Dr. to IL 56)   -- $1,152,400

“These projects were selected through the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference (DMMC), the body designated to select and program local transportation projects located in the county,” said Puchalski.  “I want to thank the DMMC for their assistance.”

All three of these projects are designated as LAPP (Local Agency Pavement Preservation) projects.  The primary component of the improvements will be to rehabilitate, resurface and preserve the roadway for a longer pavement life.
