LOCAL RADIO STATION LENDS A PAW FOR HOMELESS PETS

WERV 95.9 "The River" Becomes Title Sponsor of Dog Wash n' Walk Fundraiser

DU PAGE COUNTY  - Local radio station WERV 95.9 The River has partnered with Friends of DuPage County Animal Care and Control to become the title sponsor of the 2009 Dog Wash n' Walk fundraiser, benefitting the animals of DuPage County Animal Care and Control.  The River Road Crew and van will be at the event on Sunday, July 26th from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the IIT Rice Campus located at 201 East Loop Road in Wheaton. The event will provide entertainment, games, prizes and a streaming broadcast for Wash n' Walk participants.

"The Dog Wash n' Walk is an annual event that raises much needed funds for DCACC, which is not taxpayer funded and relies heavily on donor support to care for the nearly 5,000 animals it receives each year," said Dog Wash n' Walk Chairperson and Friends of DCACC Vice President Pam Stella.  "We are thrilled to have the support of such a community-minded radio station as 95.9 The River.  With their generous support, the Wash n' Walk will help us provide a second chance at life for more homeless pets in and around DuPage County."

The Wash n' Walk features something for the entire family including: a bath for four-legged guests, a walk led by the Honorable Mayor Michael J. Gresk of Wheaton and his DCACC adoption alum "Nikko", entertainment provided by The River Road Crew, food, dog obedience and agility demonstrations.  More than 40 vendors and rescue groups will showcase their products, services and animals in need of forever homes. 

Registration for the Dog Wash n' Walk event is $25 per participant and includes a bath for up to 3 dogs.  The fee for a Dog Wash is only $10 per dog.  The registration fee is waived with pledges of $50 or more.  All leashed, socialized and vaccinated dogs are welcome.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available.  Exhibitor registrations are now being accepted and are $20 per rescue/not-for-profit organization and $35 for businesses. 

The Dog Wash n' Walk is also sponsored by Illinois Institute of Technology Rice Campus, The Chicago Pets Directory, Hill's Pet Nutrition/Science Diet, and Pure Health and Wellness.
