COUNTY AUDITOR CONTINUES TRANSPARENCY INITIATIVE

DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan has redesigned his Transparency in Government webpage to provide users with quick and efficient internet access to detailed County payment information.  The original Transparency in Government website which debuted in January of this year essentially put the County's checkbook online and the redesigned webpage makes locating specific payment information even easier.

"Every time we expand transparency, we must step back and make sure that we don't obscure information by the quantity that we put out," Grogan said.  "Now there is no need to sift through a fifteen hundred page report when you are looking for information."

The newly redesigned webpage is equipped with drop-down boxes that enable users to very quickly search for payments according to department, purchase order number, check number, vendor name, and budget category. 

The Auditor added, "The available data has been expanded to include the five prior fiscal years.  The current fiscal year data is updated monthly, so the data is timely and relevant." 

Grogan noted that the reports still do not contain personnel-related information and only list payments made subject to the County Board's budget appropriation.  While names may be similar, the information does not include payments made from the DuPage County Forest Preserve district or the DuPage County Health Department as these bills do not come before the County Board for approval.

Grogan said, "The feedback since January from the public regarding the access to the information has been very encouraging.  I hope the new user interface enables more citizens to access this information."
