COUNTY FINANCE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES "DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD" FOR 5TH YEAR IN A ROW

DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom is pleased to announce that the County's Finance Department has received the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

"The budget expertise and commitment to DuPage County by Fred Backfield and his team is a great asset to the County Board," said Schillerstrom.  "They are a most deserving recipient of this award."

The GFOA notes that "the award represents a significant achievement by the entity.  It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.  In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.  These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a: policy document; financial plan; operations guide and communications device."

"This marks the fifth year in a row that the County has received this honor," said Paul Fichtner (District 1), Chairman of the County's Finance Committee.  "Their hard work and professionalism are a benefit to the entire county."

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America.  Their Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
