West Chicago Runner to Receive Extra Miler Award

The DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation 5K Committee is pleased to announce that Suzanne Ryan of West Chicago is the recipient of their third annual "Extra Miler Award." This year's award will be presented to Ms. Ryan at the 8th Annual Fall Festival 5K Run/Family Walk on September 19th.   

The award is given annually to individuals who excel in road racing in their age group or category, and whose accomplishments serve as an inspiration to others, runners and non-runners alike.   Ms. Ryan is an exceptional road racer and holds the women's course record for the Fall Festival 5K of 17:54.7.

Ms. Ryan was selected as the Chicago Area Runner of the Year by the Chicago Area Runners Association in both 2006 and 2007.  She has finished first in many area runs including the Ravenswood 5K, the Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 mile and the Chicago Half Marathon.  Ms. Ryan has also competed in the Chicago Marathon, with a personal best time of 2:50:43.  Her success extends across the county, with first place finishes in races in Tennessee and Mississippi.  Ms. Ryan lives in West Chicago with her husband Chris and four children, Tommy, Steven, Leah and Rachael.
