DU PAGE COUNTY BOARD APPROVES AGREEMENT WITH NRCS

DU PAGE COUNTY -- The DuPage County Board approved an agreement today with the United States Department of Agriculture, National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the Churchill Woods Dam Floodplain/Wetland Restoration Project.  The agreement is for funding assistance in the amount of $687,600 from the NRCS.  The project is a dam modification that will restore the ecological health of an impounded segment of the East Branch DuPage River. 

 “Senator Dick Durbin was integral in providing support to obtain financing for this project, and we look forward to working with the Senator and other public servants in continuing to improve the water quality and ecological viability of DuPage County’s natural areas,” said Jim Zay, Chairman of the Stormwater Management Planning Committee. 

Design and plan review for the project is already underway, and construction is anticipated to being in the summer of 2010.
