FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FUNDING WILL HELP THOSE AFFECTED BY LAST YEAR'S FLOODS DU PAGE COUNTY -- DuPage County has received approximately $340,000 from the United States Department of Health and Human Services that will help those affected by last year's severe storms and flooding. This natural disaster occurred September 13- October 5, 2008, and DuPage County was declared a federal disaster area by the government. The funds, which are made available as part of the Illinois Disaster Assistance Program, may be used for social service needs such as mental health, family counseling, youth services, employment services, transportation, temporary housing, child care and medical services. They may also be used for individual needs such as clothing, furniture, food, medication, household items as well as home repairs and renovations.
