Fundraiser Challenge to Support National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week

DuPage County -- This month, DuPage County Animal Care and Control (DCACC) will be holding the 3rd Annual Fundraising Challenge to help celebrate National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, which lasts from November 1st through 7th.

Individuals or groups of all ages are welcome to “Take the Challenge,” and compete to raise funds on behalf of the shelter.  Past fundraisers have varied from classroom penny wars to office bake sales.  Additionally, pet food collections can be dropped off at local food banks, and monetary donations are welcome.  This year, the award categories include:

1) Largest amount of funds raised;
2) Largest amount of funds raised divided by number of members in groups; and
3) Largest amount of funds raised per individual

Winners will be honored by the Friends of DuPage County Animal Care and Control Foundation.  All plans to participate should be sent to DCACC by November 7, 2009.  Participants must complete the Take the Challenge Entry Form, which can be found through the Friends of DCACC home page at www.DuPageAnimalFriends.org.  Entry forms should be returned to Friends of DCACC by fax (630) 407-2801, or by mail to:

Friends of DuPage County Animal Care & Control
120 N. County Farm Road
Wheaton, IL 60187.

Proceeds should be dropped off by November 30, 2009 for consideration in the “Take the Challenge” Month Awards.  For further questions, residents may also call Foundation Coordinator Kristie Lecaros (630) 407-2819.

DuPage County Animal Care & Control (DCACC) is a self-supporting open admission animal shelter and does not receive any support from resident tax dollars.  Friends of DuPage County Animal Care & Control is a non-profit foundation which raises funds to enhance DCACC’s animal welfare initiatives and to help cover expenses beyond the shelter’s general operating budget.
