The DuPage County Public Works Department began operations in 1962. The Department consists of sewage collection and treatment facilities and water treatment and distribution facilities in certain areas of the County. The population served by the Department is approximately 117,000.

The Department is currently comprised of the Public Works division, which is further divided into Water and Wastewater divisions and Facilities Management.
