The Victim/Witness Assistance Unit provides assistance to victims and witnesses of violent crime. Advocates assigned to this unit are available to assist victims of domestic battery, sexual assault, homicide, reckless homicide, child sexual abuse, and victims of other violent crimes with questions of problems. Advocates provide information about an individuals rights as a victim of a crime, the criminal justice system, case status and counseling. The advocates also handle court ordered restitution and assistance in obtaining an Order of Protection.
