| State’s Attorney’s Office to Assist with Election Day Concerns
DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced that his office will again be assisting with the Election Day process. For the past decade, the State’s Attorney’s Office has assigned a team of Assistant State’s Attorneys and Investigators to handle any irregularities of a criminal nature that may occur while DuPage County polling places are open on Election Day. Next Tuesday, April 5th, State’s Attorney Birkett will have prosecutors and investigators available at the State’s Attorney’s Office and at polling places throughout the County. His staff will also maintain communications throughout the day and into the evening with officials at the DuPage County Election Commission in Wheaton.
“I am honored to have the responsibility to help safeguard this fundamental right - the right to vote,” commented State’s Attorney Birkett.
Investigators of the State’s Attorney’s Office will be randomly visiting polls throughout the county as well as responding to any problems of a criminal nature that are called in to the office while the polls are open. This coordinated effort and open lines of communication with the DuPage County Election Commission will help to enforce compliance with Election Code while ensuring that every voter properly qualified is able to cast their ballot.
Polls will be open on Tuesday, April 5th from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Anyone who has questions or is concerned about activities going on at any DuPage County polling place can contact either the DuPage County Election Commission at (630) 407-5600 or the State’s Attorney’s Office at (630) 407-8100.
