SEAN McNEES PLEADS GUILTY TO DUI WHILE ON PROBATION

Faces up to 14 Years in Prison

WHEATONDuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today Sean McNees, 21 (d.o.b. 2/7/1985) admitted to having violated his term of probation by committing the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol while his license was revoked.

The charges stem from an incident in May 2005, during which a DuPage County Sheriff’s Deputy observed McNees driving erratically and committing numerous lane violations in the area of Benedictine University.  McNees pulled his vehicle into the college entrance and while the deputy was conducting a driver’s license check on McNees, he attempted to flee the scene on foot.  McNees was quickly apprehended and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Additional charges were later filed.  At the time of this offense, McNees was still on probation for the December 21, 2001 Reckless Homicide for a drunk driving crash in Naperville, which caused the death of 16 year old Stacey Blundell.

“Mr. McNees was given the opportunity by the Court to turn his life around without serving any significant time in the penitentiary, but instead of doing so he chose to once again drink and drive,” commented Birkett.  “He is a danger to society and he is a danger to himself.  He was given a second chance and he squandered it turning his back on the law and turning his back on the memory of Stacey Blundell.”

McNees is scheduled for sentencing on September 5th in front of Judge George Bakalis.  He faces up to fourteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
