DES PLAINES MAN GETS SIX YEARS IN RASH OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

Man’s Girlfriend Sentenced to Five Years Last Month

WHEATON - DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that Judge Michael Burke sentenced Michael Z. Passev, 19 (d.o.b. 4/23/87) of 1685 Mill Street, Apartment 609, Des Plaines, to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after Passev entered a plea of guilty to multiple counts of Residential Burglary, a Class 1 Felony.

On January 23, 2006, Passev was charged with five counts of Residential Burglary stemming from a string of burglaries in Wheaton beginning on December 27, 2005 until January 14, 2006.  Passev committed the burglaries with his girlfriend Nicole Galitz, 17, (8/13/88) of Des Plaines.  Last month, Galitz was sentenced for her role in the burglaries to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after entering a blind plea of guilty to similar charges.

“I am very pleased with the sentences handed down by Judge Burke for both Michael Passev and Nicole Galitz,” commented Birkett.  “Whatever their reason for committing these crimes, Mr. Passev and Ms. Galitz will now have the next five to six years to think about what their brief crime spree has cost them.”
